About the Author:
Naresh Gulati is a cultural activist-writer who, after dabbling in amateur theatre in his college in 70s and later with city clubs in 80s in Jammu, gradually drifted to writing reviews. What started with the aim of establishing a tradition for theatre writing with some continuity in that part, almost concurrently got diversified into art writing of all kinds in both English and Hindi.
He wrote in Hindi in the Dainik Kashmir Times, Jammu right from its initial days in the winter of 1989 through the nineties mainly under his weekly series yatra-tatra and in English alongside in the Kashmir Times intermittently. Later he was to write for the Jaipur Edition of The Hindustan Times and the Delhi Edition of The Hindu while he stayed in Jaipur between 2000 and 2006. He continued with his series Yatra-Tatra in the virtual space on Yahoo 360 and Ibibo.com after shifting to Ahmedabad in 2006, all of which writing is lost due to the later changes of format at these social media sites. Notably he made it to the Hall of Fame while writing at the ibibo.com through 2007 and 2008.
While at Ahmedabad, he also wrote art reviews and columns for about two years for the Hindi Edition of Rajasthan Patrika, Ahmedabad. After his first collection of newspaper reviews titled Tawi to Sabarmati Via Pinkcity, this collection of his writings appearing between 2019 and 2023 on CreativeYatra.Com, the art portal, is brought out with the objective of documenting a part of the fine arts and other performing arts shows etc. happening in Ahmedabad during the above period. A substantial body of similar art reviews have been contributed by the writer on Facebook group Fine Arts Forum.
The writer was a professional Central Banker and served the RBI for 36 years ending his career as an Assistant General Manager.
